How do I get my business featured in Google local search results?

The “Google Local Pack” is the box that shows the top 3 businesses near a searcher. To get in, you need a fully optimized Google Business Profile, consistent business info across the web, and a steady flow of good reviews. In this short blog we will show you 4 tips to start showing up on Google Local Pack.

4 Steps to Getting on Google’s Local Pack

  • What the Local Pack is
When someone searches “electrician near me” or “Charlotte dog groomer,” Google often shows a map with three businesses listed at the top of the search results. This is the Local Pack. Getting in means more clicks, calls, and customers.

  • Step 1: Claim and optimize your Google Business Profile

    • Fill in your exact business name, address, and phone (called NAP — Name, Address, Phone)

    • Choose the most accurate business category

    • Add your services with a short description using keywords and location

    • Add photos of your business, team, and work

    • Post regular updates, offers, or events to keep Google coming back

  • Step 2: Keep your details consistent everywhere

    • Make sure your NAP matches across your website, social media, and online directories (this is a huge problem we see that hurts your rankings)

    • Even small typos or mismatches can confuse Google!

  • Step 3: Collect genuine reviews

    • Ask happy customers to leave reviews on Google. Make is part of your off-boarding with clients and give them directions to use your name, service used and location to help optimize your reviews.

    • Reply to every review — good or bad — to show you’re active and engaged

    • Businesses with more positive reviews are far more likely to show in the top 3

  • Step 4: Boost local relevance

    • Add location-based keywords naturally into your website content (example: “plumbing services in Charlotte NC”)

    • Create location-specific landing pages if you serve multiple areas

  • Why it matters
Local Pack listings get about 44% of all clicks for local searches — and many of those clicks turn into calls.

The Timeline - It Doesn’t Happen Overnight!

Remember, the key is patience and consistency. Implementing these changes won’t immediately place you ahead of the competition overnight. It takes time, so continue to gather reviews and regularly update your Google Business Profile. With steady effort and patience, the results will follow.
